How to unpack the game files

Most mods for the original Juiced require you to unpack the game's .dat archives.

You can do this with the JCED.DAT.Tool created by Ekey, compiled into a one-click solution by SxnnyB.

Extract the .zip file to your game directory and run J1 Unpack - PC.bat. A command prompt window will open, and the unpacker will begin extracting the .dat archives. When all is said and done, you should have some new folders in your game directory, and all of the extracted .dats should be renamed with an underscore in front of them.

You can now install mods that require unpacked files.

Troubleshooting

"'JCED.Unpacker.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

Solution: Do not run J1 Unpack - PC.bat as administrator. Run it normally.

Unhandled Exception: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path is denied.

You have your game installed in a restricted directory where usermode write access is blocked by default. (Most likely, this is in the default install directory, C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Juiced).

Solution: Move your game directory somewhere that isn't restricted (for example, the desktop, or somewhere like C:\Games\Juiced), then run the unpacker. You can move the game back to its original location afterwards if desired.
